Ovalum Ltd. releases for marketing the TraVerse™ micro-catheter in the US

Ovalum Ltd. releases for marketing the TraVerseTM micro-catheter in the US. The TraVerseTM micro-catheter is a unique stainless steel helically laser cut support and exchange catheter used to aid guide wire manipulation in complex angiographic procedures.

Rehovot, Israel (PRWEB) March 1, 2008 — Following approval in Europe, the TraVerseTM micro-catheter will be marketed separately from the CiTopTM guidewire system previously approved for sale in the European Economic Community and cleared for sale in the US by FDA.

The TraVerseTM micro-catheter is a unique stainless steel helically laser cut support and exchange catheter used to aid guide wire manipulation in complex angiographic procedures. In addition it can be used for injection of contrast media for visualization of target lesions.

Noam Shamay, founder and Ovalum Ltd. Chief executive officer, said: “this is a major millstone for us; the unique benefit of the TraVerseTM micro-catheter is the physician ability to shape its tip to facilitate complex navigation of wires. An additional benefit of the TraVerseTM micro-catheter is its extraordinary pushability in comparison to polymeric catheters currently on the market; this can be helpful in situations like failed crossings of balloon catheters in calcified lesions. This is one of the lowest profile micro-catheters on the market with an outside diameter of 0.025″ and inside diameter of 0.019″. I believe the TraverseTM will be an important player in every cath lab with a very competitive price.

In addition, we have presented excellent “first in man” clinical results of the ExPanderTM coronary guidewire last week at the CRF – CTO Summit in New York and we expect to gain regulatory clearance this year for this important coronary guidewire.”

About Ovalum Ovalum Ltd. Is a privately held medical device company established in 2005 to develop and produce safe and effective technology designed specifically for the most challenging arterial conditions.

The CiTopTM Guidewire system is a 0.014″ high-end guidewire with a dilatable tip specifically designed for CTO recanalization. The system is made of a highly flexible guidewire body and a distal tip consisting of a working element with dilating capabilities to facilitate wire cross-over.

The CiTopTM Guidewire is available in both 6gr and 10gr degrees of stiffness, to address the broad range of artery sizes and occlusion hardness present in Peripheral Artery disease (PAD) patients anatomy.

A guidewire is a mandatory tool which provides exclusive access to minimally invasive treatments. In order to use balloon catheters and stent delivery systems minimally invasive specialists all need a guidewire to cross the lesion first.

CTO have continuously presented some of the more difficult challenges to interventional cardiologists and radiologists.

Ovalum’s CTO solutions, the CiTopTM Guidewire system the CiTopTM CoBraTM guidewire and the TraVerseTM micro-catheter enables the minimally invasive intervention specialist to cross over the arterial blockage in a controllable and reproducible way.

CiTopTM, CoBraTM, TraVerse TM and ExPanderTM are trademarks of Ovalum Ltd
